Nature

The prominent landscape features include the two viewpoints at Macocha. The upper viewpoint is 138 metres above the bottom of the abyss, while the lower viewpoint is 92 metres above the lower part of the gorge. A hiking trail leads from the Macocha viewpoint towards the Punkva Caves.

An eco-train runs between Skalní Mlýn and the Punkva Caves. A cable car connects the Punkva Caves with the Macocha Cottage. In the Kateřinská Cave, the Main Dome is the largest publicly accessible cave space in the Czech Republic. The cave also contains evidence of human settlement in the Stone Age, as well as bones of animals from the Quaternary period. Concerts are held in the Main Dome, which is known for its acoustics.

Culture and History

Rájec nad Svitavou Chateau is a national cultural monument in the surrounding area. It was built between 1763 and 1769 in the French Neoclassical style. The chateau's greenhouses are open to the public during the camellia flowering season in February and March.

In the surrounding area, the Blansko ironworks became the largest cast-iron producer in Moravia and Austrian Silesia; its products were exported worldwide. Blansko is also home to the wooden Church of Saint Paraskeva, which was transferred from Carpathian Ruthenia. The forested ruins of New Castle near Blansko can be reached on foot and feature a castle tavern at weekends.

The Blanensko Archaeological Exhibition presents Hallstatt finds from Býčí skála. These include evidence related to at least 40 human remains found at the Býčí skála site.

The Blanensko Archaeological Exhibition uses replicas, an audio guide and Braille labels to support blind visitors. Dům přírody Moravského krasu has a fully wheelchair-accessible ground floor.

A tourist information centre operates seasonally at Rozhledna Podvrší.

Rozhledna Podvrší is located next to a blue-marked hiking trail and cycle route 5116 between Blansko and Boskovice. The observation tower rises 49 metres; 168 green iron steps lead up to it. In the wider regional area, EuroVelo 9 is marked with yellow-and-black signs bearing the EuroVelo 9 logo.
