Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul in the Village Center
The Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul shapes the center of Křtěnov. As part of the Rural Renewal Program, the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul in Křtěnov received the “Zlatá cihla” (“Golden Brick”) award in Category C. Category C represents new rural buildings.
The Hodonínka and Its Alder Groves
The Hodonínka, also known as the Křtěnovský potok, is the most important stream in the area of Křtěnov. The stream’s course meanders strongly, forming pronounced winding loops. Original alder groves have been preserved along the meanders. A meander is a pronounced bend in the course of a stream or river. The Hodonínka flows through Křtěnov and then around the Podhrázský mlýn. The course also establishes the spatial connection between the stream running through Křtěnov and the mill site. Hodonínka is also called Křtěnovský potok; both names refer to the same stream. The preserved alder groves accompany the strongly winding sections of the course.
Podhrázský mlýn Away from the Village
The historic Podhrázský mlýn lies away from the village of Křtěnov, below the dam of a now-vanished pond. A detour via the crossroads near Valcha makes it possible to include the Podhrázský mlýn as another historic site. The Podhrázský mlýn is associated with its classification as a manorial mill for the years 1656 to 1678. A manorial mill was assigned to an estate. In this context, a dam is a structure that can enclose a pond or another body of water.
Memorial at the End of the Village toward Olešnice
The memorial to the victims of the First World War and communism in Křtěnov was made from a historic cast-iron cross. The memorial stands in Křtěnov on the right side of the road at the end of the village toward Olešnice. The memorial commemorates the victims of the First World War and communism.
Marked Trails through Křtěnov
A yellow-marked hiking trail leads through Křtěnov. The yellow-marked hiking trail runs from Olešnice to Křtěnov and from Křtěnov onward to the Louka Castle Ruins. A castle ruin is the surviving structural remains of a former castle. Several signposted local cycling routes also pass through Křtěnov and intersect there. The hiking trail and the local cycling routes are separate route networks, each with its own marking and course. This keeps the two types of routes clearly distinct for orientation while traveling. The yellow trail runs from Olešnice via Křtěnov onward to the Louka Castle Ruins.
Nativity Scene and Wooden Statues
A mechanical nativity scene and wooden statues of Saints Peter and Paul were made by Milan Rossler from Křtěnov. A nativity scene is a staged depiction of the Christmas story. The mechanical ensemble and the wooden figures represent two different forms of religious depiction in Křtěnov. The wooden statues depict Peter and Paul.
