Nature

Rejvíz protects a complex of peatland ecosystems, along with the species associated with them and their physical environment. No historical peat extraction has been documented for the Rejvíz peatland. The rare peatland ecosystem at Velké mechové jezírko developed 6,000 to 7,000 years ago; an educational trail leads to Velké mechové jezírko.

The Nýznerovské Waterfalls were declared a natural monument in 1965. Along the Stříbrný potok, they form a geomorphologically significant gorge in crystalline schists. Obří skály is a rock formation made of staurolite schists, 10 to 16 metres high.

Culture and Spas

Jánský Vrch currently offers four guided tours. The first tour covers the state rooms and a historic pipe collection, considered one of the largest in the Czech Republic. Visitors can also enter the flanking tower. Jánský Vrch is the only publicly accessible monument in Jeseník District and, together with its landscaped park, forms a landmark.

In Jeseník, Vodní tvrz has four permanent exhibitions. The Zlatorudné mlýny in the Zlatokopecký open-air museum are replicas of medieval water-powered mining mills.

Priessnitz hydrotherapy has been listed as intangible cultural heritage of the Czech Republic since 2014. At the spa Balneopark, visitors can try Priessnitz hydrotherapy free of charge. The Spirála času Země exhibition presents the geomorphological development of the Jesenícko region in connection with the formation and development of the Earth; it is available in Czech, English, German and Polish.

Several dozen springs from the heyday of the spa resorts in the 19th century are located in the Studniční vrch area.

Trails

Jeseník railway station is integrated into the public transport system. The Schroth–Priessnitz educational trail connects the spa facilities of Jeseník with the Na Pomezí mountain pass and includes eight stops.

The Art Nouveau Tančírna in Račí údolí serves as a restaurant. It provides facilities for tourists and cyclists, a ski and bicycle service room, and an information centre.

The Čarodějnická cycling route runs through the Czech-Polish borderland; the Czech section is 136 kilometres long.

Food and Drink

Traditional recipes from the Jeseníky Mountains are based mainly on potatoes, cabbage and cream. The small Jesenická čokoládovna in Jeseník makes chocolate by hand.
