Česká Ves: Hotels and Accommodation

Česká Ves combines a varied educational trail with distinctive viewpoints, historic sites and various activity options. The Naučná stezka kolem České Vsi is approximately 8 kilometres long and includes a total of 25 stops. It begins in the Krajník district at the Southern Viewpoint, passes through the centre of Česká Ves and continues to Čertovy kameny.

Nature, Trails and Views

Along the Naučná stezka kolem České Vsi are the remains of wartime trenches, a restored wooden chapel, forest springs, stone menhirs and climbing walls. The trail also passes water mills on the Pompeho říčka stream. The route offers views of the Zlatohorská vrchovina, the Priessnitz Sanatorium and the Polish plains beyond.

Čertovy kameny is a rock massif surrounded by numerous legends that has attracted tourists and nature lovers since the founding of the Gräfenberg spa. An iron railing was installed at Čertovy kameny in 1892 to make it easier to reach the highest rock tower.

Active Activities

Above Česká Ves, the Fitstezka offers outdoor exercise elements such as TRX, high and low parallel bars, slalom, jumping and balancing stations, as well as areas for stretching and push-ups. The Fitstezka is located below the summit of Černá hora at an elevation of 809 metres. From there, views extend into the Bělá Valley and towards the Biskupská kupa lookout tower at 890 metres and Zlatý chlum at 891 metres.

The Adrenalin Park Jeseníky in Česká Ves has a ropes course for children and adults. The facilities also include an adrenaline tower, a large zip line, a free-fall swing, a bungee trampoline and a track for motorised quad bikes.

For cycling around Česká Ves, Jeseník and the spa area, the YEScyklo network offers more than 230 kilometres of marked circular routes. The routes mainly run along the Sokolský hřbet ridge above the Jeseník spas and through Česká Ves. The YEScyklo circular routes around Česká Ves, Jeseník and the spa area are suitable for average cyclists and experienced children.

Local History and Museums

The Válečné muzeum Česká Ves is dedicated to the residents of Česká Ves who fell in the First World War, prisoners of war from the Second World War and the fates of soldiers from more recent missions. The exhibitions also cover Czechoslovak pre-war fortifications, the mobilisation of the Czechoslovak army in 1938, and aviation or flight-related events in the Jeseník area. The museum is housed in a former fire station. Its foundations were laid around 1891/1892; the building served firefighters continuously until January 2015.

The Church of St Joseph was consecrated in 1928 and is distinguished by its unusual twin-tower design and richly decorated interior. It can be visited by prior arrangement with the municipal office.

The monument to the victims of the First World War in Česká Ves was erected in 1934 in memory of 113 men who fell or went missing during the First World War. A marble pylon standing beside it commemorates the victims of the Second World War from 1939 to 1945.

In the centre of Česká Ves, near the bend known as “U zrcadla”, is the Muzeum Auto – motoveteránů. It is run by the local AMV Club and was open to visitors daily during the season.

Historic Buildings and Personalities

The Budova Šoltézství is the oldest building in Česká Ves and is mentioned as early as before 1550. It is also considered the birthplace of Sofie Priessnitzová, who was born there on 17 September 1804 into a wealthy farming family.

The birthplace of Johan Schroth commemorates his birth in Česká Ves on 11 February 1798 and his later founding of a dietetic naturopathic institution in Dolní Lipová.
