Spa History and Townscape
The Johann Schroth Museum presents the development of the spa industry and the history of Lipová-lázně. At the Pramen Císaře Josefa II. spring in Horní Lipová, water was brought to Emperor Joseph II during his visit on September 1, 1779; a memorial pillar erected there commemorates this event.
Above the Pramen Císaře Josefa II. spring, near Dívčí skály, there is a restored chapel with views of the ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains. The church also shapes the townscape of Horní Lipová: the single-nave building is designed in a simple Neoclassical style, has a massive tower and a rectangular-ended presbytery, and remains a distinctive landmark of Horní Lipová to this day. The church was solemnly consecrated on November 2, 1788.
Trails and Nature
The Johann Schroth educational trail is 8.5 kilometers long and leads through ten stations, where the history of the surrounding area is the main focus. The Lipovské stezky comprise two blue trails and one black trail; two additional trails can be reached via a signposted transfer and the climb to the nearby Toč mountain. Compared with the Rychlebské stezky, the Lipovské stezky are less demanding and are therefore suitable for families with children and beginners.
The Jeskyně Na Pomezí caves offer a visitor route more than half a kilometer long. The named cave chambers include Ledový dóm, Bílý dóm, U Smuteční vrby, Římské lázně, Klenotnice, and Královský komín; there are also stalactite formations, cascades, and small lakes. The Jeskyně Na Pomezí caves are closed to visitors from May 18, 2026, until the end of 2026.
Fauna Park and Getting There
The Fauna Park in Horní Lipová is a small zoo with pumas, a Ussuri tiger, kangaroos, meerkats, several species of parrots, alpacas, llamas, an ostrich, turtles, and other animals. By car, the Fauna Park can be reached via road II/369; free parking is available there. By train, get off at Lipová-lázně station.
