Šimanov lies at the foot of the 713-metre-high Strážník. The elevation of Šimanov ranges from 620 to 660 metres. The European watershed between the Elbe and Danube runs along the edge of Šimanov.
Nature
The Šimanovské rašeliniště nature reserve lies within the municipality of Šimanov. It is located about 500 metres south of Šimanov and is a valley and slope spring fen covering approximately 4 hectares at about 605 metres above sea level. The highly endangered moss species Meesia triquetra occurs in Šimanovské rašeliniště; its local population comprises only a few dozen stems.
The Hajnice nature area lies about 500 metres northwest of Šimanov below Strážník. It comprises wet meadows, pastures, wetlands and a pond in the upper course of the Hejnický potok. Hajnice covers approximately 18 hectares and lies at about 660 metres above sea level. Protected animal and plant species occur there, including noble crayfish, common snipe and broad-leaved marsh orchid.
Surroundings
The ruins of Orlík lie in the surroundings of Šimanov. The mountains Březina, Přední skála, Špičák and Popický vrch are also located nearby.

Route
The “Through the Beech Forests to Větrný Jeníkov” route follows the road towards Bílý Kámen and Šimanov as far as Větrný Jeníkov.
