At the edge of the municipality of Jámy begins the Path of Life, a route with ten stations leading to the summit of Vejdoch. Each station consists of a large stone depicting a principle of life and a QR code linking to an audio recording of a verse.

Trails and Landscape

In December 2017, the idea arose to create a viewpoint on the 663-metre-high Vejdoch and to erect a cross among the linden trees planted for the 50th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. This was intended as a tribute of thanks for the past 100 years.

At the summit of Vejdoch, between two linden trees, stands a three-metre-high sandstone sculpture of a cross called “Tree of Life”. From there, 42 municipalities, 13 church towers, two lookout towers and eight transmission masts can be seen.

History

The first written mention of the settlement of Jámy dates from 1252; at that time, Boček and Sibyla gave it to the newly founded Žďár Monastery.

In the 1470 land register, Jámy was described as the monastic settlement with the largest area of fertile soil; by then, it already comprised 31 predominantly larger agricultural estates.

The first records of the church in Jámy, dedicated to Saint Martin, date from 1672; it was founded by the monastic authorities.
