Nature and landscape

Ujčov: The Ujčov Waterfalls lie west of the village. They form a system of cascades whose two main stages have a combined height of 9 metres.

In the Ujčov area, the Svratka forms deep, wooded valleys through which it winds. On the banks of the Svratka south of Ujčov, there is a population of the protected ostrich fern.

The Babylon lookout point near Kovářová lies at an elevation of 626 metres above sea level and offers views of the surrounding area.

Trails through the surrounding area

Marked cycle route 4025 from Polička to Nedvědice runs through Ujčov. An easy, 7.6-kilometre walk from Štěpánov nad Svratkou to Nedvědice passes through Ujčov. Most of the walk to the church in Nedvědice follows the red trail marking; the final section to the railway station follows the yellow marking.

Culture and history

The Chapel of St Francis of Assisi in Ujčov is probably a vernacular structure built on the site of an older bell tower. It has a multi-storey rectangular tower with a curved roof and a covered, functional wooden bell frame. In 1993, the Chapel of St Francis was restored and consecrated by the Bishop of Brno, V. Cikrle.

The village district of Dolní Čepí is home to the Church of St Wenceslas, a state-protected cultural monument. A memorial commemorating partisan units from the Second World War was erected between Horní Čepí and Dolní Čepí in 1975. Three large-leaved lime trees stand near the war memorial in the centre of Ujčov.

Products

A cider mill is located in the Kasany district of Ujčov, where fruit from the adjacent orchards is processed. Ujčovský mošt can be purchased directly from the farm, at farmers’ markets and in selected shops.
