Churches and Architectural History

Since 1346, a chapel dedicated to the Apostle San Bartolomeo has stood in Col di Salce on the site of today’s parish church. The old Chapel of San Bartolomeo in Col di Salce was enlarged to its present size and form in 1605. Salce was legally recognised as a parish in 1834.

The Chiesa di San Bartolomeo in Salce houses a wooden statue of the Addolorata by Valentino Panciera Besarel. Architectural elements in the foundations and cellars of Villa Giamosa bear witness to an earlier 15th-century structure, which probably belonged to one of the castles whose demolition Venice ordered in 1421. At the corner of its walled grounds, Villa Giamosa has a Baroque chapel with a double-octagonal floor plan.

The Oratorio della Beata Vergine Annunciata in Salce dates from the 18th century. The Chiesa di San Pietro a Salce was demolished in 1812 because it had fallen into disrepair and rebuilt in 1833; its original stone entrance portal was retained. The year 1579 is carved in stone on the main portal of the Chiesa di San Pietro a Salce. The Chiesa di San Pietro a Salce was reopened for worship in 1877 after the necessary work had been completed.

In the regional context of Valbelluna, the Anello della Valbelluna is an approximately 80-kilometre-long cycling route connecting Belluno and Feltre. The Anello della Valbelluna runs along cycle paths and country roads; the route is considered suitable for less experienced cyclists, families and e-bikes.

The traditional Sagra di San Bartolomeo was organised on 22, 23 and 24 August at the sports ground in Salce (Belluno) by the Associazione Sole Luna Volley Salce.
