The Market Church of the Most Holy Trinity was built in 1672. Grafing’s town hall is the only Baroque town hall in the district of Ebersberg. The Gefreite Haus is also part of the town’s architectural history: in 1745, it was almost entirely rebuilt to closely resemble the appearance it has today. Grafing thus brings together a range of historic landmarks, from the church and Baroque town hall architecture to a building whose present-day appearance is largely the result of its 18th-century reconstruction.

The permanent exhibitions at the Museum of the City of Grafing include religious folk art and a 14-panel reverse-glass Stations of the Cross by Grafing-born painter Alfred Schöpffe (1917–1992). The collection also contains oil paintings and lithographs by Grafing landscape painter Max Joseph Wagenbauer (1775–1829), a widely known artist of the Munich School. The museum therefore brings together a variety of artistic themes: religious folk art and the Stations of the Cross on the one hand, and landscape painting on the other.

Starting in March, Grafing’s 2026 city tour program includes 30 dates across eight themes. These include, among others, local history, the flora and fauna of the Grafing area, and the regional economy as part of the culinary tours. The traditional Leonhardi ride is also part of the annual cultural calendar: in Grafing, it still takes place on the last Sunday in October. Nearby, Elkofen Castle is located in Unterelkofen, two kilometres south of Grafing town centre. It is one of the best-preserved castles in Upper Bavaria. The castle is therefore in a different location from the buildings in the town centre—a useful distinction when planning your excursions.

Landscape, Cycling and Nature

Grafing is situated at 518 m above sea level. Its attractive setting is characterised by a valley open to the south and a hilly terminal moraine landscape in the surrounding area. There is a well-developed network of cycle paths in and around Grafing and throughout the region east of Munich. It is suitable for short and longer rides, making Grafing a good starting point. For a specific ride, it is advisable to check the current route of the cycle path network.

Grafing offers a wide range of activities for hikers and nature lovers. One specific place with a botanical focus is Grafing town park: its medicinal herb garden provides information about the properties and uses of various medicinal plants. The surrounding landscape, opportunities for a range of activities and a garden with a clearly defined theme all complement one another.
