Culture
Rosenau combines historical everyday life with vividly presented craft history. The Dřevěné městečko was opened to the public in 1925 and showcases a historic square with original wooden buildings, most of which were relocated here from the Rožnov marketplace and the surrounding area. A visit to the Dřevěné městečko takes approximately 50 minutes and can be completed independently or with a guided tour.
Mlýnská dolina is a functioning open-air complex of buildings and facilities powered by mountain water and human labour. Visitors can see a working water mill, a sawmill and a fulling mill, and observe how a blacksmith worked in the forge. Valašská dědina conveys everyday life in a Wallachian village from the late 18th century to the 1950s. Most of the buildings are originals that were relocated here from their original locations. In addition, Valašská dědina offers an entertaining treasure hunt and themed materials on household production and traditional handicrafts. At UNIPAR, it is possible to take a tour of the candle production facility. The Slabikář řemesel programme allows children and other interested visitors to try practical activities from traditional crafts and take their finished work home.
In the Valašská dědina area, you can try traditional dishes from Wallachian cuisine, including kyselica, halušky, frgály and bramboráky. For larger groups, Rožnovský pivovar offers a guided tour of the original cellars and brewhouse, including explanations of beer production and tastings from the lager cellars, depending on the current season.
