Culture

This UNESCO site includes the 58-hectare palace garden with exotic trees and historic architectural elements. The Flower Garden covers 14.5 hectares: access leads through a 244-meter-long arcade gallery into a formal Italian-style garden.

In Zlín, the Baťa skyscraper, also known as Building 21, offers views over the surrounding area. The city's Shoe Museum houses the largest shoe collection in Central Europe.

The UNESCO-listed Ride of the Kings tradition regularly takes place in Vlčnov, Kunovice, and Hluk. The region's museums also include the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín with its Baťa exhibition, as well as the Slovak Museum in Uherské Hradiště with Slovak traditions and customs.

Regional pilgrimage routes connect destinations such as Velehrad and Svatý Hostýn. Folklore, folk architecture, festivals, traditions, and UNESCO-recognized customs are among the defining visitor themes in the Zlín Region.

Nature and Trails

The White Carpathians Biosphere Reserve is a cultural landscape in a low mountain region. Its 4,000 hectares contain species-rich orchid meadows, deciduous forests, orchards, and individual fruit trees. The grasslands of the White Carpathians are home to orchids and other rare plants; the traditional orchards preserve old and regional fruit varieties.

The Zlín Region has around 2,500 kilometers of marked hiking trails connected with cycling, cross-country skiing, and pilgrimage routes. The White Carpathians, the Beskids, the Hostýn Hills, and the Vizovice Mountains form scenic areas for hiking and cycling.

In the Zlín and Luhačovice areas, there are walking and hiking excursions, relaxed cycling, as well as more challenging routes through the Vizovice Mountains and the White Carpathians. The Baťa Canal offers boat trips; a main cycling route runs along its course.

Regional Location

The Zlín Region combines a rich history, picturesque nature, preserved cultural traditions, Zlín functionalism, and the spa architecture of Luhačovice.

Starý Světlov is located in the immediate vicinity of the Zlín Region. Attractions in the region's surroundings include Lešná Chateau, Dúbrava, Lukov Castle Ruins, Zadní vrch, Kláštov, and Loučka. Svatá Marie is located in the wider regional area.

Zlín can be reached from Prague by train via Otrokovice in approximately three and a half hours; there are also direct bus connections.

Cuisine and Spas

Vizovice is associated with plum brandy, while South Moravian Wallachia also preserves traditions involving dried plums and plum jam. Regional specialties include Frgály, Kyselica, Vizovice plum slivovitz, and the vineyards of Slovácko with their wine cellars.

Visitors can discover Slovácko wine culture and the historic archbishop's cellars in Kroměříž. Wallachian Frgály are available with fillings such as pear jam or quark; baking courses offer a hands-on culinary experience.

Luhačovice is Moravia's largest spa town and has several healing mineral springs.
