The Rališka ski resort has a two-seater Doppelmayr chairlift; its longest run is 650 m long. The ski resort can be reached via the road from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm to the Bumbálka border crossing and is located approximately 1.3 km to the right above the Horní Bečva Reservoir.
Winter
Above the Horní Bečva Reservoir, cross-country ski trails run between the Rališka and Sachova studánka ski resorts, with routes across meadows and options for different difficulty levels. The ski resort at Sachova studánka also operates a ski bus between the central car park on the main road and the ski resort. In Mečová, the run is suitable for beginners, children and snowboarders.
Trails and Routes
The Kulíškova educational trail is child-friendly, easy, 2.5 km long and includes ten interactive stations. It begins a short distance below Hotel Horal, near Hotel Pod Javorem.
In Horní Bečva, there are five themed circular walks following in the footsteps of the fairytale goblin Špírek: Kudlačena, Přehrada, Bobišek, Kyčera and Šorstýn. An 11 km highland circuit leads from Horní Bečva via Kotlová, Benešky and Polana. The viewpoints above the former quarry in Horní Bečva form an approximately 3 km circular route with three modern rest pavilions and views of the reservoir and the surrounding hills.
The Bečva Cycle Path begins below the Horní Bečva dam; it runs along the Rožnovská Bečva towards Rožnov pod Radhoštěm or as far as Valašské Meziříčí.
Water and Nature
Horní Bečva lies in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area, at the transition between the Beskids and the Vsetínské vrchy hills. The Rožnovská Bečva rises below the summit of Mount Vysoká (1,024 m) in the cadastral area of Horní Bečva.
At the Horní Bečva Reservoir, there is a grassy beach, a gently sloping sandy access to the water and a bathing pier. In summer, swimming, water sports and fishing are possible. The reservoir can be circumnavigated on an easy walking trail just under 2 km long.
Kudlačena is a natural monument in the cadastral area of Horní Bečva and a typical example of a Beskydy Sihla, that is, a submontane peat meadow. On the mountain pass between Horní Bečva and Velké Karlovice, known since ancient times as Benešová (Beneška), a continuous strip of privately owned maple stands was established.
Culture and Local History
Construction of the Church of Saints John and Paul in Horní Bečva began in 1791; the church was consecrated on 23 May 1802.
On 13 July 2024, Horní Bečva hosted Haferobraní, a traditional festival celebrating blueberries from the local forests. The offerings included blueberry tastings, blueberry dumplings, Kanco-Knedlo-Hafero-Zelo and blueberry beer.
