Culture and History
In Arnultovice stands the Kostel Všech svatých, originally a late Gothic building constructed on the site of a church already mentioned in 1352. The church is a protected cultural monument. After the interior renovation completed in 1999, it was once again used for liturgical purposes and for the cultural activities of the Velké Chvojno municipality.
A light-granite monument in Velké Chvojno was erected in 1924 in memory of the victims of the First World War. Four plaques list the names of soldiers who fell on all fronts of the First World War.
Near Žďár stands the Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého, a Baroque statue dating from 1748. In 1998, it was restored by the academic sculptor Michael Bílek from Petrovice.
A smírčí kříž stands on the surrounding wall of the churchyard, to the right of the main gate. This state-protected cultural monument has a wedge-shaped cross shaft with an engraved, upward-pointing lance and socket, and dates from the second half of the 16th century. A second smírčí kříž is set into the cemetery wall to the left of the rear gate and is also a state-protected cultural monument. This stone cross has a wedge-shaped base, straight arms, and carved Greek crosses at the ends of the horizontal beam.
Cultural events held in Velké Chvojno include the Antonínské slavnosti.
Location
Road I/13 runs along the boundary of the Velké Chvojno municipal area. The village is located about two kilometres from the D8 motorway.
