Nature

“Libouchecké rybníčky” is one of the most important amphibian breeding grounds in the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. The nature reserve of the same name protects populations of rare and endangered fish species; more than 20 dragonfly species can also be found there. The protected area also includes a wet alder forest with a diverse amphibian community. The Klíšský potok stream rises in Libouchec at an elevation of 447 m and branches there via an artificial watershed, known as a bifurcation, as a smaller tributary of the Jílovský potok.

Culture and History

The late Gothic church “Kostel sv. Tří králů” in Libouchec stands within a historic cemetery complex. A straight Baroque staircase leads to it, climbing the hillside above the main road running through Libouchec. The Baroque crucifixion group “Kalvárie”, dating from 1728, stands between the cemetery enclosure gate and the church staircase.

On a wooded hill near Libouchec stands the secessionist chapel of the Botschen family, “Kaple rodiny Botschen”, which dates from the late 19th century. From the cemetery complex in Libouchec, the chapel can be reached via the road to Tisá and then along an approximately 300 m long footpath.

Guided tours of Zámek Libouchec present the architectural and historical development of the Libouchec castle complex.
