Culture
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Horní Jiřetín has original and highly valuable Baroque furnishings. A visit also includes climbing to the viewing terraces on the main tower, with views over all of Jiřetín and the surrounding area.
Jezeří Chateau developed from a Gothic castle dating from the 14th century, first into a Renaissance chateau and later into a Baroque chateau. It was opened to the public in June 1996.
In the lower part of Horní Jiřetín there are four valuable Baroque sculptures: the Calvary sculpture, the statue of Saint Lawrence, the sculptural group of Saint George, and the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. All four have been professionally restored over the past fifteen years and are protected as immovable cultural monuments. The equestrian statue of Saint George fighting a dragon is an early Baroque work from 1691 by Bernard Dörl.
In Dolní Jiřetín there is the industrial monument “Jámová budova a těžní věž C2 s oběhem vozů”. It was placed under protection by a decision of the Czech Ministry of Culture. The area around Horní Jiřetín also includes Purschenstein, a castle, and Osek Monastery, a monastery. In the wider regional area there are Sukoslav, a ruin, and the Eastern Ore Mountains Wildlife Park, a zoo.

The surroundings of Horní Jiřetín include several landscape features classified as mountains: Medvědí Skála, Lesenská pláň, Vlčí hora, and Kamenný vrch.
Routes
The Horní Jiřetín–Jezeří cycling route is seven kilometres long and mostly easy. It is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes; there is a steeper climb at the end.
The “Kolem dolu ČSA” route is accessible from Horní Jiřetín and leads through the recultivated landscape around the former ČSA open-pit mine. It is suitable for pedestrians and cyclists and offers views of the open-pit mine, the Ore Mountains, and Jezeří Chateau. The route is listed as nine kilometres long, while a shorter variant is approximately eight kilometres long.
