History
Halže was first mentioned in writing in 1431. In the 16th century, iron ore was mined near Horní Halže through hundreds of shallow shafts and open-air trenches. Since the mid-16th century, a vitriol works operated on the western slope near Horní Halže, producing green and blue vitriol to order. The first inhabitants of Horní Halže were miners who built their houses near mines and adits. After mining ended, women in Halže made bobbin lace and ribbons at home.
Culture and surroundings
