Výsluní was founded between 1543 and 1547 and soon developed into a mountain town.

History and townscape

Výsluní has a regular checkerboard street layout with a central square. Silver and iron ores were mined in the area around Výsluní.

The present-day Church of Saint Wenceslas in Výsluní was built between 1851 and 1857 in the Neo-Romanesque style according to plans by the architect Karel Řivnáč. Since 1998, it has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The church is used for weddings and occasionally for cultural events and exhibitions; concerts and a theatre performance have also been held there.
