Ore Mountains History and Culture

Loučná pod Klínovcem was elevated to a royal mining town by Rudolf II in 1601. The lime kiln lies in the forested landscape between Háj near Loučná pod Klínovcem and Kovářská. It is considered the most significant surviving evidence of the extraction and processing of calcareous rocks for lime production in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains. The lime kiln was completely restored in 2019. Guided tours and admission tickets for the lime kiln, including payment, can be booked online. A combined visualisation presents Gustav Zindel as a painter and illustrator of folk life and his homeland in the Ore Mountains.
