Ceska Kubice: Hotels and accommodations

Česká Kubice offers views over the Šumava. Čerchov rises above Česká Kubice and, at 1,042 m, is the highest mountain in the Český les. At Na Skále, a sharply defined quartz ridge that runs through the Český les also emerges at the surface.

Trails

International cycle route No. 3 from Prague via Plzeň to Regensburg runs through Česká Kubice. A considerable section of this route has been developed as a cycle path in the territory of Česká Kubice. A blue-marked hiking trail connects the state border, Česká Kubice, and Babylon. Another blue-marked hiking trail runs between Česká Studánka, Čerchov, and Pec pod Čerchovem. The red-marked “Horizontálka” hiking trail also leads from Česká Kubice.

Transport

The Furth im Wald–Domažlice–Plzeň railway line has run through Česká Kubice since 1861. Railway line No. 180, which runs through Česká Kubice, connects Plzeň and Domažlice with Germany.

Nature

Česká Kubice is, among other things, one of the starting points for visiting the Český les Protected Landscape Area. In the vicinity of Česká Kubice runs the 11-km-long Devil’s Nature Trail with 21 stations, which is particularly suitable for hiking or mountain biking. The protected natural monument Sokolova vyhlídka is also located nearby; it covers an area of 3.5 ha and features an exposure of a quartz ridge.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in Česká Kubice and Horní Folmava is registered as an immovable cultural monument. In pre-war history, the surroundings of Česká Kubice and its districts were an important tourism centre and were called a “climatic spa” because of their climatic location.
