The Trhanov Castle complex is one of the cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. The castle was built in 1676–1677 by Volf Maxmilián z Lamingenu as an originally Baroque summer residence.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint John of Nepomuk was built in 1810 on the site of a chapel founded as early as 1706; its tower dates from 1818. The Trhanov village heritage zone was designated on 22 September 1995 by Decree No. 249 of the Ministry of Culture. The village also has a niche chapel at a crossroads. Above the village, on the road to Domažlice, there is a wayside shrine.
Townscape and Surroundings
A castle park extends north of Trhanov Castle. West of the castle, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands by the pond. The Lomikar Linden Avenue commemorates the struggles of the Choden people with the local nobility.
Geographical Location
The route to Čerchov is described as moderately difficult, while the ascent to the summit is considered difficult.
Trhanov railway station is located on line 184 between Domažlice and Planá u Mariánských Lázní.
