Culture and History

The Dřevorubecké muzeum in Pec was founded in 2006 by the local association for the protection of monuments and the municipal office. It focuses on the lives and work of the residents of Pec pod Čerchovem, as well as on the work, products, working methods and tools of lumberjacks. The Dřevorubecké muzeum includes an area dedicated to historic chainsaws; it also provides information about the former blast-furnace and glassworks production in Pec pod Čerchovem and displays related exhibits.

During the main season, the Dřevorubecké muzeum is open from May to September; there are no fixed opening hours. Visitors should call at least one day in advance to arrange a visit.

The Daliborka in Pec pod Čerchovem was completed in 1912 and was named after its round tower, which resembles a tower in Prague. At the Mlýneček locality, also known as Na Mlýnečku, an abandoned sawmill was converted into a small mill around 1863 by Jan Knopf from Chodov. Milling continued at the Mlýneček Mill until 1948. The pond at the Mlýneček locality, also known as Na Mlýnečku, is frequently used as a swimming spot during the summer months.
