Tovéř lies at the foot of the Nízký Jeseník between Olomouc and Šternberk, 8 km northeast of Olomouc city center and below the basilica on Svatý Kopeček.
History
The first documented mention of Tovéř dates from around 1203.
Culture and Village Character
The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, built in 1844, stands in the village square. The chapel has been illuminated; its surroundings were paved with granite setts and furnished with new amenities. A stone wayside cross in Tovéř dates from 1862.
Farmstead No. 11 is a remarkable example of the original local architecture. The same house features a sandstone arcade with nine arches. Tovéřské hody is traditionally held every year on 5 July, the feast day of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
Paths and Surroundings
A regular and heavily used IDSOK bus service of the Integrated Transport System of the Olomouc Region connects Tovéř with the regional capital. Cycle Route No. 6102 also passes through Tovéř, running from Bělkovice via Dolany, Toveř and Samotišky to Svatý Kopeček.
Since 2021, the OÁZA klidu in the “Za Humny” locality has been an freely accessible area for people who like animals. In 2022, the CIHELNA biocenter began creating a quiet zone for recreation and walks in nature.
