In the Morávka Profile area, the Morávka River forms a gorge-like riverbed with rock thresholds, rapids, and gravel terraces. At 342 meters, Hůrky Hill is the highest point above Staré Město. The surroundings of Staré Město are suitable for cycling trips; in the Morávka Profile natural monument zone, walks from Staré Město are a good option.
Culture and History
The Church of St. Joseph was built in a purely Romanesque style from 1902 to 1903 and completed in 1904. It is dedicated to Saint Joseph.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary stands on the road from Staré Město to Baška and was built in 1878 by local farmers in thanks for the harvest. Historic Jamnice was a settlement with a fortification on the trade route from Moravia to the Těšínsko region.
The Na Skotni Chapel is located on the road from Staré Město to Skalice. It is well maintained but carefully locked; through the completely wooden door, it is hardly possible to see inside.
Getting There
From Frýdek-Místek, the road connection continues via Road II/477 in the direction of Baška. Travel by train is possible to Frýdek-Místek railway station; from there, continue on foot, by bus, or by taxi.
