Nature and Trails
Poodří is a protected landscape area in the Moravian-Silesian Region, centred on the flat floodplain of the Oder. The landscape combines meadows, scattered woodland, naturally meandering sections of the Oder and almost 70 ponds.
The Radhošťská ovčí dálnice is a 4-kilometre ridge trail from Pustevny via the Cyrilka lookout point and the Radegast statue to Radhošť. The Beskydská horská stezka follows the route from Pustevny to Martiňák for 8.2 kilometres and has nine stations.
From the Velký Roudný lookout point, the view extends to the Hrubý Jeseník ridge, across Nízký Jeseník, Krnovsko and Opavsko to the Beskydy and Oderské vrchy. The Rešov Waterfalls are a national natural monument in a gorge through which the Huntava stream flows.
The Oder is seasonally navigable for paddlers from the confluence with the Budišovka and navigable year-round from Suchdol nad Odrou. At the Slezská Harta Reservoir, swimming, boating, fishing, sailing and windsurfing are all possible.
The Po vulkanitech educational trail runs along both sides of the Slezská Harta Reservoir. Karlova Studánka offers trips to the waterfalls of the Bílá Opava, as well as easy walking trails in the immediate surroundings.
Culture and Technology
Hukvaldy Castle is one of the largest castles in Moravia. From its tower lookout point, you can see towards the Beskydy ridges and over Kopřivnice, Příbor and Ostrava.
Tours in Dolní Vítkovice pass through the blast-furnace complex, explain the history of iron production and include a climb to the Bolt Tower. The Moravian-Silesian Technical Trail can be visited by bicycle, as cycle paths run close to the individual sites.
Osoblazsko combines a peaceful, partly hilly landscape with the unique Třemešná–Osoblaha narrow-gauge railway. This line is the only railway of its kind in Silesia; leisure trips with a genuine steam locomotive and tourist carriages are also offered there.
The Jakub Glassworks in Vrbno-Mnichov is known for the artisanal production of forest-green glass. Karlova Studánka is a village conservation area with wooden buildings and buildings clad in wood.
The museum in Bruntál is located in a chateau and presents a collection of original interior furnishings during guided tours. The Czechoslovak fortification complex in Darkovičky is a military and technical monument representing the Czechoslovak fortification system from the period before the Second World War.
The Wesselsky Water Mill in Loučky still has a functional mill race and an almost 5-metre mill wheel. At Důl Michal, the complex includes a changing room suspended from chains, a refreshment room and a lamp room.

There are iodine-bromine spas in Karviná-Darkov and Klimkovice. Komorní Lhotka is known for herbal baths and a wellness centre.

The observation deck of Ostrava’s New City Hall is 73 metres above the ground. From there, you can see across Ostrava, towards the Beskydy, into Poland and, in good weather, as far as the Jeseníky Mountains.
The Wesselsky Mill complex in Loučky and the Darkovičky fortification complex complement the region’s historical and technical sites with different examples of craftsmanship, industry and defensive construction.
Getting Around the Region
The integrated ODIS transport system accepts regional, short-term and long-term tickets on participating trains and also includes suburban buses and urban public transport. The ČD routes integrated into ODIS include connections to Budišov nad Budišovkou, Hradec nad Moravicí and Ostravice.
Regional public transport is organised through railways, suburban buses and urban public transport. These services are commissioned by the region and the municipalities.
