Urús: Black Pine Forests, Mountain Trails and Culture

Urús is predominantly characterised by mountainous and forested terrain; almost the entire forested area consists of black pines. In the surroundings of Urús are les Suquetes, a summit, Cap del Serrat Gran, a summit, and Roques Blanques, a summit. Nearby is la Tosa, a mountain.

Landscape and Trails

The Cortal d’en Vidal and Font Llebrera route begins at Plaça Major in Urús. It is a challenging 12.5 km circular hiking trail.

From Font Llebrera, the Coll de Jou route can return to Urús as a circular route via the trail to the Cortal d’en Vidal mountain refuge.

The ascent route from Urús to la Tosa, also called Tosa d’Alp or Pedró dels Quatre Batlles, is a 17.3 km out-and-back route. At 2,536 m, Tosa d’Alp offers a viewpoint over the eastern Pyrenees.

The two routes can be clearly compared by length and route type: a challenging circular hiking trail contrasts with a longer out-and-back route. Length and route type therefore provide two separate comparison points for your own planning.

Coll de Jou is one of the most important northern passes in Cerdanya and was traditionally used by carters and pedestrians.

Getting There

Urús can be reached via a turn-off from the GIV-4036, coming from the road to the Cadí Tunnel.
