Nature
Les Coves de Ribes are deep natural cavities in a narrow gorge that opens towards the Vall de Ribes. The Refugi de Pla de Prats is an unmanned mountain refuge in the forest of Campelles at an elevation of 1,559 metres. The Refugi de la Covil is an unmanned mountain refuge at the foot of Mount Covil at an elevation of 1,770 metres. For planning purposes, the two mountain refuges can be distinguished by their elevations and by their locations in the forest and at the foot of the mountain, respectively.
Trails
The route Campelles-la Covil-Campelles passes through the shaded section of the Montgrony mountain range. At the refuge on the meadow of Pla de Prats, it includes a recreational area for resting. For planning purposes, the trails can be compared by their named destinations, viewpoints and terrain sections.
History
The Torre de Campelles is a fortified medieval tower documented since the 11th century. Archaeological investigations at the Torre de Campelles have identified construction and usage phases from the 14th to the 19th century. The restored Torre de Campelles can be climbed via a ramp.
The Església de Sant Martí de Campelles was founded around 1,000 years ago and had been fortified since the 13th century. Around the year 1000, it was a Romanesque building with a single altar, a tower and a belfry. After a fire caused by French troops during the Guerra Gran (1793–1795), the Església de Sant Martí de Campelles was rebuilt and reconsecrated in 1799.
In El Baell in Campelles stands the Capella de Sant Bartomeu del Baell, a 40-square-metre church built in 1772.
Festivals
The Festa Major de Campelles takes place at Pentecost. The Festa de Sant Martí is Campelles' small local festival. The Festa de Sant Martí in Campelles includes a ceremonial address, the ringing of bells, a botifarra competition, activities for children and other leisure activities, a communal dinner, dancing and a solemn mass.
