Ski holidays in Spain. Today, this country, which is mostly associated with beaches, offers a surprisingly large selection of ski resorts. For many it will be a surprise that Spain is the second country in Europe after Switzerland, with many mountain areas on its territory. In total ski resorts of Spain can be found in 20 mountain areas. Moreover, among the mountain ranges of Spain the most popular ski resorts are concentrated in two main areas. These are the Pyrenees and the Sierra Nevada.
The best ski resorts in Spain by the range of tracks, the quality of infrastructure and the duration of season can be found in the Pyrenees. Among them are Baqueira Beret, La Molina, Formigal, Candanchu and Salardu. The Spanish Pyrenees are divided into two regions - Catalan and Aragon.
Among the Pyrenean resorts the reputation of the most respectable for many years holds Baqueira Beret, on which slopes improve their ski skills members of Spanish royal family. Baqueira Beret is located in the Catalan Pyrenees.
Aragon Pyrenees: Spanish ski resorts in this region are not so luxurious. However, due to the much smaller number of tourists, as well as beautiful mountain scenery, many of them are in demand among the real skiers, for whom skiing is more important than partying.
Sierra Nevada is a mountain range located in southern Spain. As well as Russian Sochi, it is located quite close to the sea. At the same time, Sierra Nevada has firmly established reputation of the best sports resort in Spain. Here, in 1996 was held the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Today Sierra Nevada offers 100 kilometers of prepared ski tracks that are available from December to mid-March. It is worth noting that the ski season in Sierra Nevada is one of the most instable in Spain.
The attractiveness of Serra Nevada is supplemented by the located 35 kilometers from the resort ancient city of Granada - one of the most vivid and rich in sights cities of Spain.
Spain there are also youth ski resorts. For example, Masella ski resort located north of Barcelona in the Eastern Pyrenees.
Ski resorts in Spain offer a full range of winter tourist accommodation. Such resorts as Baqueira Beret or La Molina offer a wide range of winter ski accommodation from apartments to spa hotels, villas and residences. Small ski resorts in the Aragon Alps offer a modest range of hotels, mostly three star hotels or refugios - the Spanish analogue of hostels.
