Alp: Winter Sports, Mountain Panorama and Culture
Accommodation in Alp
Alp has a direct connection to winter sports through La Molina: La Molina is one of the ski stations for winter sports in Alp. From La Tosa d’Alp, the mountain panorama stretches across the entire Cerdanya and a large part of Catalonia. Another landscape perspective is offered by Sender 737 – Camà d’Alp a Set Fonts, which leads through sunny slopes and wooded sections.
If you want to combine several interests within your travel group, you can set a separate focus for each day and consider winter sports, landscapes and culture separately. A named winter sports resort, a mountain panorama and a trail with different landscape sections stand alongside one another as independent points of reference. Your personal order can be based on the desired balance of activity, landscape impressions and sightseeing. Masella is available to you as another destination page.
Culture and History
In Alp stands the Església de Sant Pere d’Alp, a church dating from the 11th century. It is also the only Romanesque building in the comarca with a three-nave basilica floor plan. On the north wall of the presbytery is a 14th-century Gothic painting depicting Sant Cristòfol.
The small Capella de la Divina Pastora belongs to the Torre de Riu and is attached to the main building. The Torre de Riu itself is a romantically styled castle built in 1896 on the old Torre del Riu, a defensive bastion dating from the 14th century.
In Alp’s old town, the Font de la Mare de Déu de la Guia on Font Square forms an architectural ensemble. It includes a statue of the Virgin Mary, a public washhouse and a livestock trough. The Dolmen de Paborda is a megalithic tomb built approximately between 2000 and 1800 BC. Near La Molina there is also the Castell de Segramorta, a medieval structure with remains of opus spicatum.
The historic sites differ in their architectural form, function and chronological classification. You can incorporate these focuses independently into your daily planning and base your selection on a religious building, castle complex, megalithic tomb or public ensemble. Combining them with a winter or landscape attraction can also be taken into account in the order of your personal itinerary. Those who arrange their sightseeing by architectural purpose will find different types in Alp: religious building, castle, defensive bastion, megalithic tomb and public ensemble. This keeps the selection distinguishable by function and period without grouping the individual sites into a single monument type.
If you compare accommodation for a ski holiday in Alp, you can sort the information on the respective offer pages by travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. These three fields provide a clear basis for comparing different options for your planned stay.
