Culture
The Gothic Church of St. Nicholas dates from the late 13th century and has a late Gothic stone baptismal font from the 16th century. A tour of its interior is organized by the tourist information centre.
The municipal tourism and regional development agency Marmon operates the tourist information centre, the Dom ľubovnianskeho mešťana Town Museum and the Historical Military Camp. The Dom ľubovnianskeho mešťana exhibition is located in a historic burgher house from the 17th century featuring Renaissance architectural elements, original vaulted ceilings, stucco decoration and cellars dating from the 15th century.
The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Holy Mother of God on Zvir Mountain in Litmanová was established on 7 September 2008, together with the entire site and the spring, as a pilgrimage site of the Greek Catholic Archdiocese of Prešov. The International Sculpture Symposium site in Vyšné Ružbachy was declared a cultural monument on 1 July 1997.
The ruins of Plaveč Castle date from the 13th century; sections of the walls remain, and the site offers views of the surrounding area. In the wider regional area, Muszyna - Ruiny Zamku and Rytro are considered castles, Červený Kláštor a monastery, and the Wooden Articular Church in Kežmarok a church.
Nature
Jarabinský prielom is a protected limestone gorge with rapids, waterfalls and large potholes. In Litmanová, hiking trails lead to the Litmanovské skalky nature reserve. Hiking trail PI07 runs between Šafranovka and Vysoká along the Slovak-Polish state border.
The crater in Vyšné Ružbachy is a legally protected travertine formation. Nemecký vrch, Chotárňa, Hrubá Klada and Široký vrch are named mountains in the nearby area.
Getting Around
For the journey from Stará Ľubovňa towards Červený Kláštor, the municipal Pieniny route lists car and bus as means of transport. The excursion route from Stará Ľubovňa to Plaveč can be reached by bus, train, car or on foot.
