Vysne Ruzbachy combines winter sports with thermal water, travertine and marked trails. Ski Park Vyšné Ružbachy offers ski rental, ski services, parking, ski storage, first aid and an information centre. Beyond the ski day, the Kráter, the spa, the Izabela Thermal Bath and distinctive architectural and artistic works shape the character of the town. This allows visitors to tailor their stay according to their interests, combining skiing, activity, relaxation and culture.

Winter, Nature and Trails at a Glance

Several kilometres of marked hiking trails run through the municipality of Vyšné Ružbachy. Anyone planning a day without skiing can incorporate another form of exercise into their trip without losing touch with the area's landscape. Marked cycling routes also run through the municipality, including routes towards Kamienka and Nižné Ružbachy.

The Kráter and the Travertine Landscape

The Kráter is considered the largest travertine lake in Slovakia. Since 1967, it has been designated a protected natural formation in Slovakia. Its formation is connected with a mineral spring: travertine first accumulated around the spring, then the travertine mound collapsed, and the resulting depression filled with mineral water.

Thermal Water, Spa and Relaxation

The Vyšné Ružbachy Spa offers mineral-water therapy pools, baths, a sauna, a fitness room and massage rooms. The Izabela Thermal Bath has two large outdoor pools, two outdoor children's pools and a covered thermal pool. These facilities provide various options for a stay that combines a day of skiing or hiking with time in the water and at the spa.

This combination is particularly relevant for travel groups with different interests: while the Ski Park covers winter sports, the thermal baths and spa offer additional alternatives for spending parts of the day together or separately.

Art and Architectural History in the Spa Area

The spa area of Vyšné Ružbachy is home to a collection of 104 travertine sculptures by foreign artists. The International Sculpture Symposium in Vyšné Ružbachy began in 1964 with a preparatory year zero.

The White House of Count Zamoyski was built in 1931 from white travertine in the Biedermeier style. Today, it is a sought-after venue for social events. The building dates from 1931, before its current use as an event venue.

Cycling Routes with Regional Connections

A new cycling route created in 2018 that connects spa towns in the border region runs through Vyšné Ružbachy along the green route towards Kamienka.

Getting Your Bearings in the Town

A tourist information centre is located in the municipal office in the centre of Vyšné Ružbachy. This means that the town centre has another information point in addition to the Ski Park information centre.

For comparison with other destinations, you can include Mníšek Nad Popradom, Old Lubovna and Nová Ľubovňa.
