Water

The cadastral area of Liptovský Trnovec extends southwards to the shore of Liptovská Mara Reservoir. After the reservoir was built, Liptovský Trnovec developed into a centre of summer recreational tourism. The location on the shore, the various rental boats and the catamaran trips each represent different ways of using the reservoir, from jet skiing and kayaking to travelling under sail or with a windsurf board.

Culture

The foundations of amateur theatre were laid in Liptovský Trnovec in 1864. In the first half of the 19th century, the town was one of the cultural centres of the Liptov region and an important centre of the national revival. The first direct mention of a theatrical performance in Liptovský Trnovec dates from 1865.

The Evangelical church in Liptovský Trnovec was built in 1925 on the site of a toleration church dating from 1784. It contains a memorial plaque from 1784 and an old altarpiece of the Last Supper from the late 18th century. Both pieces were transferred from the former toleration church. Separate from it stands the present-day neoclassical Church of the Holy Spirit: it was built between 1810 and 1820 and stands on the site of a medieval church from the early 14th century.

Another historical feature of the town is the stone pillory from the 17th century in Liptovský Trnovec. It has chains with shackles on all four sides.

Cuisine
