Nevoľné: Hiking, Cycling and Local History

Nevoľné combines a mountain landscape with marked hiking trails, a cycling route and several cultural and historical attractions. The range therefore extends from hiking trails and rock formations to a waterworks, church and a recurring march.

Landscape and elevation profile

Nevoľné is considered a mountain municipality in the Kremnické vrchy mountains and lies at an elevation of 705 m. The surrounding terrain ranges from the lowest point at 504 m in the valley of the Biely potok to 950 m on the slopes of Kremnický štít; over a distance of about one kilometre, the elevation difference is 410 m. When choosing routes, you should therefore distinguish between valley and hillside locations.

Ďurova skala is located near the municipality of Nevoľné. The rock formation consists of andesite cliffs and offers views of Dolná Ves and part of Kremnica. Peňažná is a landscape created by volcanic activity, with rocks and stone rubble loosened by erosion and covered by dense forest. A Stations of the Cross was later built beside the cross on Peňažná; the path there ends at a naturally formed rock temple where Masses are celebrated for pilgrims.

Hiking Between Nature and High-Elevation Trails

Marked hiking trails from Nevoľné lead to the Jastrabská skala natural monument and the Kremnický štós nature reserve. A hiking route is signposted from Nevoľné to Ďurova skala. The 23 km Kremnica–Trnavá Hora magistral route passes through Nevoľné. A hike from Nevoľné to the Jastrabá railway stop takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Cycling and Connection to Kremnica

The blue-marked POHRONSKO – KREMNICKÝ OKRUH cycling route passes through Nevoľné. It is suitable for road bikes, trekking bikes and mountain bikes. Buses connect Nevoľné with Kremnica. This makes it possible to consider the location both via a route suitable for various types of bicycles and via a documented bus connection.

Waterworks, Church and Early Mention

The Nevoľnícky waterworks, dating from 1940, is located along the 23 km Kremnica–Trnavá Hora magistral route. Construction began on 21 May 1940; water was already flowing into the reservoir on the third day. Nevoľné is one of the villages whose first surviving written mention is associated with the land register of 1487. The church in Nevoľné contains an organ dating from 1973 with 1,724 pipes. The church was consecrated on 13 September 1970.

Prechod krajom SNP

The traditional Prechod krajom SNP march takes place every year on the last Saturday in August. Buses transport the hikers from Nevoľné to Skalka, where a 15 km route and a 20 km route begin. The two route lengths provide a clear basis for planning your hiking day according to the desired distance.
