Dolná Ves lies in the Jastrabská vrchovina at the confluence of the Rudnica and Švábsky potok rivers. In the village, a monument to the victims of the Slovak National Uprising and the Second World War commemorates 14 partisans who fell during the Slovak National Uprising.
History
The oldest written mention of Dolná Ves is associated with the year 1429; in this context, the village appears under the name Schwabendorff. King Sigismund pledged Dolná Ves, together with Horná Ves, Lúčky and Kunešov, to the town of Kremnica. Historical occupations in Dolná Ves included farming, forestry and mining in particular. At the same time, Dolná Ves historically served Kremnica as a source of raw materials for ceramic production. Another connection with the town is documented for the year 1695: at that time, Kremnica received the right to collect bridge tolls in Dolná Ves.
Individual events also give the village's history its depth over time. In 1627, Dolná Ves was looted by the Turks. In 1852, the residents witnessed the ceremonial reception of the retinue of Emperor Franz Joseph I. In spring 2005, a coin was unearthed in the Na záhumní area on the southern side of Brezový vrch in Dolná Ves. The Church of P. Márie, expanded between 1928 and 1930, is part of the village's sacred history.

The war memorial in Dolná Ves stands in the centre of the village, at the edge of a park next to the municipal office and the cultural centre at No. 81.

The mountains of Horná Klapa and Dolná Klapa are located in the immediate surroundings of Dolná Ves. The surrounding area also includes the Šášov ruins and the mountains of Dolný Chom and Labušen. In the wider regional area lie the Púšť Church and the Svätý Vendelín Church. The surroundings of Dolná Ves are characterised by hilly terrain and pleasant natural scenery.
