Nemce lies in the valley of the Nemčiansky potok stream. History and Archaeology

Nemce was founded at the end of the 13th century by miners from Banská Bystrica. Older traces can be found on the Hrádok upland. Ceramic fragments from the Late Bronze Age were discovered there; ceramics attributed to the Púchov culture were also found on this upland. Hrádok in Nemce dates from the transitional period between the Bronze Age and the Iron Age.

Two caves are also associated with dated archaeological finds. A bronze axe was found in Netopierska Cave, dating to the Late Bronze Age, specifically the Reinecke stage HA 2. Archaeological finds from Kaplnka Cave date to the first half of the 5th century AD. Netopierska Cave is not open to the public.

Culture

The Church of St Bystrík is the first church in Slovakia dedicated to Saint Bystrík. It was consecrated on 15 September 2006. It was created through the conversion of an existing building following extensive renovation. Its interior can accommodate approximately 100 people. Thus, the church’s dedication, consecration date, architectural origins, and approximate capacity are clearly stated.
