History
The first season at the Kúpele Brusno spa began in spring 1838, after the first spa house had been completed in 1837. The town’s religious buildings also reflect different historical periods. The neo-Gothic Chapel of Saint Anne in Brusno was built in 1910 on the site of an older chapel dating from 1853. The originally Gothic church in Brusno was built in the 15th century and enlarged and given new Baroque vaulting in 1744 and 1766.
Culture and Cuisine
The annual local cultural festival Čipkárskô combines traditional cuisine, crafts and markets. The associated culinary tradition preserves a dish that Brusno’s ancestors cooked in a “Mašina” while travelling to markets to trade lace. At the Čipkárskô competition, teams of four compete; a condition is that they prepare the Čipkárskô dish in Mašinas. The festival, dish and competition are therefore among the named cultural and culinary forms of expression of Brusno.
