The Podkonice–Pleše ski resort offers skiing on natural snow, as well as easy and intermediate runs with a total length of 5,172 metres. It is located 2.5 kilometres from Podkonice, at an elevation of 800 to 987 metres on the southeastern side of the Low Tatras. The resort also includes a nine-kilometre cross-country skiing trail. A buffet, restaurant, free parking, sanitary facilities and accommodation at Chata Pleše complete the services available there.

Winter
The Podkonice–Pleše ski resort combines different levels of runs within the documented offering: the slopes are easy and intermediate. The nine-kilometre trail is available for cross-country skiing. The resort’s elevation ranges from 800 to 987 metres, and its location is on the southeastern side of the Low Tatras. Anyone wishing to visit the Slovak Ski Museum should make an appointment by telephone in advance.
Nature
Podkonice lies at the foot of the southern slopes of the Low Tatras and the Staré Hory Mountains. The Podkonický educational trail leads from the village centre to Pleše. Its two routes are almost five kilometres long in total, run between elevations of 550 and 976 metres, and are considered suitable for families. The longer section is 2.6 kilometres long and includes seven stations.
Culture
The Church of St Martin in Podkonice houses a Gothic Madonna and Child dating from around the early 16th century, which is classified as a national cultural monument. The church itself was consecrated on 14 November 1819. The Pavol Tonkovič Memorial Room is also located in Podkonice. It is a branch of the Literary and Music Museum in Banská Bystrica and has been open to the public since 1998 in the Podkonice municipal office building.
The Slovak Ski Museum is part of the village’s skiing history. It was opened on 1 September 2007 and documents 130 years of skiing history. The museum contains around 650 exhibits related to skiing and 85 ski boots. The connection between winter sports and local culture continues in the Tonkovičove slávnosti, held in Podkonice every two years since 2007. The Vysoká folk group presents authentic forms of musical and dance folklore there.
Traditions and Events
The traditional Fašiangová slávnosť in Podkonice is associated with a Zabíjačka and a procession of the Fašiangovníci through the village. The Christmas concert Podkonické Vianoce is held at the end of December in the Church of St Martin in Podkonice. A traditional mass in honour of Saints Cyril and Methodius was announced for 28 June 2026 in Kalište; a bus was scheduled to depart from the square in Podkonice at 9:30 a.m.
Other Routes
A cycling connection also ends in the village: the Donovaly–Podkonice cycle route runs as far as a cycling signpost next to the church in Podkonice.
