The Maniva ski resort has more than 40 km of ski runs and 9 ski lifts. This gives Collio a clear connection to winter sports, which can be complemented by other mountain and cultural themes. For experienced skiers, the size of the ski-run and lift network is an important figure; for groups with differing ideas about their day on the slopes, however, it should be noted that these figures alone say nothing about specific difficulty levels.
Winter sports and access to Maniva
The Maniva ski resort is accessed via Passo del Maniva, which can be reached from Valle Trompia through Collio–San Colombano. This access route is therefore one of the specific points you can take into account when planning your day on the slopes. This does not include information about current snow conditions, open facilities or individual travel times.
Mountains and trails around Collio
Several mountain destinations are also located around Collio outside the ski resort. Corna Blacca is a peak in the vicinity of Collio. Monte Dasdana is likewise a mountain in the vicinity of Collio. Monte Crestoso and Dosso Alto are mountains in the area around Collio.
CAI trail no. 349–3V leads from Collio via Pezzeda to Corna Blacca. This means that, in addition to winter sports, there is also a specific trail connection for hiking enthusiasts. The route can be regarded as a focus in its own right, while Maniva is the point of reference for planning around ski runs and ski lifts.
Mining history at Miniera Sant’Aloisio
Miniera Sant’Aloisio adds a distinctive experience to your travel plans. The “Trekking Minerario” service is a guided underground tour lasting approximately one and a half hours. In addition, the Adventure Park at the Sant’Aloisio mine allows visitors to explore the above-ground facilities of the former mine via Tibetan bridges, ropes, walkways and ladders. Referring to it as a former mine preserves the historic character of the facilities.
The speleoclimatic centre of Miniera Sant’Aloisio extends for 1,400 metres and includes a journey of approximately 400 metres by small train through the tunnels. This creates a mining-related theme that is clearly distinct from a day on the ski slopes and from a tour in open terrain.
Churches and cultural destinations
The cultural side of Collio includes the Chiesa di San Rocco. It is a stop on the Via del Sacro e dell’Arte of the Ecomuseo di Valle Trompia – La Montagna e l’Industria. The parish church of SS. Nazario e Celso was completed in 1785. Together with Miniera Sant’Aloisio, this creates another theme for your stay, highlighting historic and religious sites alongside winter mountain activities.
