Art and Sacred Places

At the northern edge of Pisogne stands the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve, built in the 15th century. Between 1532 and 1534, Girolamo Romani (Romanino) frescoed its walls, chancel arch and counterfacade. The fresco cycle culminates in the Crucifixion on the counterfacade, making the church a notable destination for visitors wishing to discover Pisogne through its art history.

The Pieve di Santa Maria in Silvis also offers a special perspective on sacred spaces: visitors can descend beneath the church floor and see several rooms. The furnishings also include a portal sculpture from 1485, signed by Damiano da Milano. In Toline, a hamlet of Pisogne, the Chiesa di San Gregorio Magno was originally an old chapel; in the 15th century, it was converted into a parish church.

With Mirad’Or, Pisogne has a museum on Lake Iseo and a contemporary exhibition space in the form of a modern stilt structure. Exhibitions and contemporary art projects take place there in dialogue with the lake, history and the community. The Parco Comunale provides a contrasting landscape, covering 16,000 square metres and featuring a wide variety of conifers, including some rare species.

Lakeside Routes and Trails into the Heights

The Lungolago Tempini is a lakeside promenade along the shore designed entirely for pedestrians and cyclists. It is more than one kilometre long, providing a clearly defined route for travelling along the water.

For a longer cycling or walking tour, the Pista ciclopedonale Toline–Vello runs between Toline and Vello in Marone. Toline is a hamlet of Pisogne. The route follows the water and includes tunnels and rest areas.

The Antica Strada Valeriana is considered a pilgrimage and devotional route, as it is characterised by churches, pilgrimage churches, hermitages and chapels. Its first section leads from the centre of Pisogne through chestnut forests. It forms part of a 25-kilometre-long, predominantly panoramic route along the eastern shore of the lake.

The higher-altitude routes also have different focuses. The circular route from Val Palot to the Rifugio Medelet begins in the heart of Val Palot and leads to the Rifugio Medelet. It follows the Pizzacane stream to Roccolo Laini and then continues along trail 201 to the Rifugio Medelet.

Another circular route from Toline leads to the summit of Corna Trentapassi. A short via ferrata is located along the summit ridge; it is not particularly difficult technically, but is equipped for more demanding use and recommended for experienced hikers. The routes therefore differ considerably: at the Lungolago and on the Pista Toline–Vello, walking or cycling by the water is the focus, while the route to Corna Trentapassi adds an experienced mountain hike with a via ferrata section.
