Darfo Boario Terme: Rock Art, Thermal Park and Trails at Lago Moro

Rock art: The Parco Archeologico di Luine and Corni Freschi represent the prehistoric history of Valle Camonica. Remembrance: The MALP Museo degli Alpini is dedicated to personal testimonies. Thermal park: The Parco delle Terme di Boario offers green spaces and opportunities for walks. Botany: A large natural area with well-maintained paths lies in the center. Hiking trails: Routes run along the Oglio, through vineyards and olive groves, or as a circular trail starting from Boario. Views and buildings: A lookout tower, a Big Bench and the Ponte di Montecchio provide further highlights.

Rock Art, Archaeology and Remembrance

The Parco Archeologico di Luine preserves the oldest rock art in Valle Camonica and has been a UNESCO site since 1979. Within the park there is an exceptional concentration of rock carvings dating back more than 10,000 years.

The Sito Archeologico dei Corni Freschi in Darfo Boario Terme is an ancient ritual site from the Copper Age. The rock of Corni Freschi bears a composition of nine halberds.

At the MALP Museo degli Alpini, you can see memorabilia, documents, letters, photographs and testimonies. They tell the personal stories of many brave young people and keep their memory alive. The nearby Oratorio dei Morti is a national monument and houses a complex cycle of paintings that is of interest for its period.

Lago Moro and the Terme di Boario

The Parco sovracomunale del Lago Moro is an alpine lake in Darfo Boario Terme and part of UNESCO site no. 94. At Lago Moro, boat trips and pedal boat rentals are available.

The Parco delle Terme di Boario offers long walks through extensive green spaces. The park includes the Giardino Botanico, a 13,000-square-metre natural area in the center of Darfo Boario Terme. The Giardino Botanico has well-maintained paths and a botanical map leading through various habitats. The natural springs of the Terme di Boario contain numerous mineral salts, especially iron.

Trails, Views and Notable Buildings

The Lungo le rive del fiume route runs along the banks of the Oglio and begins as an ecological trail. The Tra vigne e ulivi route passes through vineyards and olive groves along the ridge of Monte Erbanno. Those looking specifically for an easy circular trail will find the Sentiero del Monticolo, a route that begins at Boario railway station.

The Sentiero del Monticolo leads to a Big Bench and a lookout tower with wide views over central Valle Camonica. The Ponte di Montecchio is a single-arch granite bridge with a span of 24 metres and is a national monument.

Excursions for Children and Different Interests

The Archeopark is a prehistoric theme park with reconstructed buildings and tools, as well as activities for schools and families.
