There are two launch points for waterway users, in the districts of Lahnbahnhof and Leun. The Lahn Valley Cycle Route and the Ulm Valley Cycle Route pass through Leun. The former railway line forms part of the route described for the Ulm Valley Cycle Route; the Lahn Valley Cycle Route is another route that passes through Leun. This is a specific distinction between the two named cycling routes and does not imply anything about their difficulty.

The town of Leun presents the Lahn Hiking Trail, the Bergmannsroute, the Greifensteiner Children's Trail and the Dianaburgweg–Greifenstein Circular Hiking Tour as hiking routes. Among the options listed are both a children's trail and a circular hiking tour. The Bergmannsroute can be reached by train via Leun–Braunfels station. Local History and Sights in Leun

Leun's historic centre is characterised by its medieval heritage and is a protected historic ensemble. The Leun Town Museum devotes 500 square metres of exhibition space to local history and regional heritage. One focus is everyday life and work over the past 200 years. This brings together two distinct periods: the medieval character of the historic centre and the museum's look at life and work over the past two centuries.

The town's districts also have their own historical points of interest. The Protestant church in Bissenberg took on its present form in 1723 and is the district's landmark. In Biskirchen, the Gertrudisbrunnen is a freely accessible spring where visitors can taste the mineral water. The church and the spring offer different points of interest for a visit: the history of a district in one case, and the water from the spring in the other.

Cultural Attractions in the Lahn-Dill District

The Lahn-Dill district is home to other cultural attractions, each with its own theme. In Wetzlar, the Lotte House commemorates Goethe's encounter with Charlotte Buff and the summer of 1772. Two rooms on the first floor house a permanent exhibition on the origins and impact of Goethe's first novel, “The Sorrows of Young Werther”. In Solms-Oberbiel, the Fortuna Mine Visitor Mine is the only Hessian anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage. Literary history and industrial heritage thus represent two distinct themes in the district.

Villa Grün in Dillenburg displays objects and faithfully recreated scenes of industrial and craft production in the Dill region across more than 20 rooms. The basement also houses an elaborate, media-rich mining exhibition. The Glockenwelt Greifenstein Castle features almost 100 bells in a journey through a thousand years of German bell history. These two attractions offer further clearly distinct themes: production and mining on the one hand, and bells and their history on the other.

Another place to visit in the Lahn-Dill district is the Herbstlabyrinth show cave in Breitscheid. On weekdays and during school holidays, it can be reached by RMV bus route 510 to the Breitscheid, Rathaus stop. From there, the walk to the cave takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
