Culture and Local Character

The gravestone of Abbé Laurent Morand, a 19th-century author, is located by the church wall in Lescheraines. His writings are the most important historical source on the Bauges. In the main village, there is also a notary's house opposite the church.

The Coopérative Laitière de Lescheraines is also part of the local character. For groups, it offers guided tours lasting approximately one to one and a half hours by reservation. The tour covers the production of Tome, the AOP designation, the ageing cellars and a tasting. A market is held on Tuesday mornings at Place des Cantalous (Le Pont) in Lescheraines.

Activities

The Centre Équestre des Bauges offers rides and outings with ponies and horses for beginners and experienced riders. It also offers riding treks lasting from two to seven days. Beginners can also take part in taster and introductory skijoring sessions there.

The Plan d'eau de Lescheraines is a category-two fishing lake. It is open for fishing year-round; only the fishing permit issued by the AAPPMA du Haut-Chéran is required. The lake contains chub, perch, pike, carp and small white fish.

Nature and Water

The Les Iles du Chéran area comprises four bodies of water distributed along the Chéran. Two of them, as well as the leisure centre with its facilities and activities, are accessible from Lescheraines.

At the first body of water at the Les Iles du Chéran leisure centre, there is an equipped beach, a three-lane water slide and water play areas. The swimming area at the leisure centre is supervised daily from Saturday, 27 June 2026, to Thursday, 27 August 2026, from 1 pm to 7 pm.

The Promenade des Iles du Chéran initially follows the Chéran River and the bodies of water, then continues through the forest to the Cascade du Pissieu waterfall. The option known as the “Promenade Confort” starts at the leisure centre and is accessible to families with pushchairs, older people and wheelchair users accompanied by another person.
