Winter and Nature

The Sentier des orchidées is located at the exit of Aillon-le-Jeune in the direction of Aillons-Margériaz. Along the trail, visitors can discover wild orchids as well as other plants such as dark columbine and carnation. The Sentier des orchidées is accessible year-round; the period from mid-May to the end of June is the most suitable for observing the orchids. The trail is suitable for a family outing.

The GEO-RANDO des tannes et glacières leads through nine key discovery stations, marked in the terrain by placed stones. In the Tanne du Névé section, the Spéléo-Rando provides independent access to the underground world.

Les hameaux de la vallée du Lindar is an easy, 4.1-kilometre snowshoe loop starting in Aillon-le-Jeune. La Grotte des Fées is also an easy snowshoe loop starting in Aillon-le-Jeune and covering 3.1 kilometres.

The Aillons-Margériaz tourist office provides year-round information about activities, hikes, shops, and the cultural and natural heritage of the Aillons-Margériaz resort.

Culture and History

The Chartreuse d’Aillon is located in the remains of a monastery built from the 12th century onwards. It presents the history of the Bauges through an exhibition featuring eyewitness accounts, photographs, videos, and models. The Chapelle Saint-Michel, known as “de la Correrie”, was part of the monastery of Combe d’Aillon, which was built around 1421 by the Carthusian order.

The Chartreuse d’Aillon offers guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, and activities for families. It also offers an outdoor trail along the still-visible remains of the former religious estate.

Farming and Cheese

During a visit to the Ferme de la Correrie, visitors can see dairy cows, goats, and other farm animals and learn about milking. The Ferme de la Correrie offers a free, self-guided tour of an authentic Bauges farm.

The Fromagerie du Val d’Aillon produces Tome des Bauges. It has a museum area dedicated to the history of local cheeses and to the lives of farmers and cheesemakers. Upon reservation, the Fromagerie offers self-guided and guided tours, as well as cheese-making workshops.
