La Perrière: Hotels and accommodations
At the end of the 1980s, the former municipality of La Perrière decided to establish a winter sports resort near the hamlet of La Tagna. The resort opened on December 22, 1990, under the name La Tania. The construction of the winter sports resort connected the La Perrière valley to the ski area and gives skiers access to the slopes of Courchevel and Méribel.
When planning your stay in La Perrière, you can find accommodations there.
Winter history and ski area
The connection to La Tania shapes the valley’s ties to winter sports: the historic decision by the former municipality led to the creation of the resort near La Tagna, which opened on December 22, 1990. Through the connected ski area, skiers have access to the slopes of Courchevel and Méribel.
Culture and history
The Church of Saint John the Baptist in La Perrière was rebuilt in the 17th century. Inside is a significant altarpiece dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, featuring depictions of Saints Grat and Guérin. The choir stalls also feature an unusual depiction of the Holy Trinity.
La Nouvaz lies at an elevation of 1,180 meters within the territory of the former municipality of La Perrière. The Sainte-Marguerite Chapel was built there in 1612 on a plot of land that the residents had already donated in 1598. Its furnishings include a Baroque altarpiece and colorful statues. The chapel of La Nouvaz is not open to the public and can only be viewed from the outside.
Paths and historic hamlets
The Chemin de Villarnard leads to the hamlet of Villarnard, which is considered a testament to the local heritage. Villarnard is a traditional mountain hamlet and a former alpine-pasture hamlet in the territory of La Perrière.
The former school of Villarnard houses an exhibition about life in the hamlet up to 1950. The Association Le Patrimoine preserves and restores the former school, the communal bread oven, and the washhouse in Villarnard. Every year in midsummer, the festive, rural and cultural weekend Rencontres du Patrimoine takes place there.
The Chemin du Moulin connects the hamlet of Villaflou, where a mill has been preserved, with La Nouvaz and its chapel. For the Chemin de Villarnard, the return journey by shuttle is possible from the Perrière Saint Jean stop on line I.
