Nature

The first stage of the GR®9 en Chartreuse passes through the typical landscapes of the Avant-Pays savoyard and offers sweeping views of the Massif du Mont Grêle. On the second stage of Circuit 13 – Trail tour du lac d'Aiguebelette, the route crosses the Réserve Naturelle du Lac d'Aiguebelette.

Le Sunset plage is a supervised beach on Lac d'Aiguebelette and can be reached on foot from Lépin-le-Lac railway station.

Routes and activities

The first stage of the GR®9 en Chartreuse follows a yellow-marked PR trail from Lépin-le-Lac to Vergenucle-d’en-Bas (Dullin), before joining the GR®9. The first stage of the Tour du Lac d'Aiguebelette starts at Lépin-le-Lac railway station and climbs via the Voie romaine to the heights of La Bridoire.

The Voie verte makes it possible to cover 10 of the 17 kilometres of the circuit around the lake on foot or by bicycle.

Cycling and kayaking

The Itinérance vélo-kayak au lac d'Aiguebelette has its southern base in Lépin-le-Lac. It combines an outward journey by bicycle with the return journey by kayak; a roadbook provides guidance along the way.

Cyclopiet, opposite Lépin-le-Lac railway station, rents touring bikes, electric bikes, mountain bikes, children's bicycles and trailers, and offers accompaniment by an MCF instructor on request.

Culture

In the wider vicinity of Lépin-le-Lac lies the Beau Phare archaeological site, a Neolithic pile-dwelling village with an access path and palisades. The Beau Phare archaeological site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011.

A small local and craft market takes place on Sunday mornings.
