Nature and trails

The landscape of the Vosges du Nord combines dense forests, pink sandstone, castles and rock formations. There are 2,600 kilometers of marked trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and cycling.

Culture and history

Strasbourg also has a network of eleven municipal museums. The Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg was built in the 12th century and experienced centuries of conflicts between lords, kings and emperors. Haut-Koenigsbourg is fully classified as a historic monument and has been restored.

Spiritual sites

Mont Sainte-Odile is a major spiritual site in Alsace and lies at an altitude of 753 meters above sea level. The site offers a panorama, an exceptional natural and archaeological setting, as well as marked hiking trails. The Mur Païen encircles the Mont Sainte-Odile plateau over 11 kilometers.

Cuisine

Krautergersheim is considered the capital of sauerkraut. The town’s cabbage-processing sector is credited with a 20 percent share of national production.
