History and Culture

Louise Scheppler was born in Bellefosse in 1763. The Temple de Bellefosse was built on the site of the first École maternelle.

The Château de la Roche is a castle in the vicinity of Bellefosse. It was built in 1180, served as the seat of the Seigneurie du Ban de la Roche, and belongs to the Rathsamhausen zum Stein family. From the village, the castle can be reached on foot in about 30 minutes by following yellow cross markings.

The Mémorial de l'Alsace-Moselle, a museum, is located near Bellefosse. The historic site Ancien Camp du Struthof is also nearby. The ruins of the Château de Salm are located there as well.

The Bellefosse outdoor swimming pool has been in existence since 1936. It is located at an altitude of 750 metres, about five minutes from Champ du Feu.

The Ferme-auberge du Ban de la Roche is located at an altitude of 700 metres in the centre of Bellefosse, near the Station du Champ du Feu, and offers panoramic views. Its specialities include terrines, farmhouse Munster cheese, and a warm blueberry dessert.
