Culture and history

The permanent exhibition at Moučkův dům takes visitors through the history of Žďár nad Sázavou, from the founding of the monastery in 1252 to the turbulent development in the 20th century. Moučkův dům is open year-round except on Mondays. The New Generation Museum is a multimedia exhibition with light and shadow plays, music, and animated stories that conveys the 800-year history of the château and its surroundings. Modelové Království Žďár is dedicated to the construction and operation of a model railway layout, considered one of the largest model railway layouts in the Czech Republic; it depicts real railway stations, buildings, and landscape features.
