Culture and history

The Sněžné Gallery is located in a historic house on Sněžné’s square. Open year-round as a sales gallery for paintings, it also hosts solo exhibitions, author readings and other art events. It was founded in 1997 by painters Jan Odvárka, Rudolf Němec and Pavel Mertlík.

The Church of the Holy Cross was built in Sněžné in the mid-18th century and remodeled in the Baroque style; a walk around the town passes by it. The Evangelical Church was last redesigned inside in 1994 according to a design by Ostrava artist Daniel Balabán, and it is a prominent landmark of the town and its surroundings.

At the site of the abandoned cemetery, visitors can see iron grave crosses made in the workshops of Kadov and Milovy.

Garden and nature

The Japanese rock garden in Sněžné has been created for years by teacher Pavel Šimon in the spirit of Buddhist and Shinto traditions. It consists of a dry area and a wet area; two Japanese dragons guard the grounds. Visitors can see a bonsai exhibition there and buy bonsais, bonsai pots and ceramics.

Trails and activities

The nine-kilometre walking trail around Sněžné partly follows the local educational trail “S Kvíčalou za humna”.
