History and Culture
The Church of St. Martin at the cemetery stands on a slope above Vejprty and was built in the Gothic style in the mid-16th century. The Church of All Saints is an originally late Baroque, single-nave building with predominantly Rococo interior furnishings dating from the end of the 18th century. It is located on the western side of Kostelní Square in the historic centre of Vejprty; its tall, slender tower also serves as a landmark for the surrounding area.
Since 1899, Nové Zvolání has been home to the single-nave, Neo-Gothic Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, with a tower aligned with the church axis. The mining settlement of Neugeschrei, today’s Nové Zvolání, was established around 1550 around the deep Johann in der Wüste adit (Jan na poušti), which was driven after a silver-bearing ore vein was discovered.
The Baroque House No. 309 in Vejprty dates from 1787 and is the oldest non-religious building in the town. Bobbin lace-making came to Vejprty in 1693 and became an important source of livelihood for the local population. Vejprty Forest Cemetery was opened on 1 October 1908; its layout forms a harmonious ensemble of cemetery architecture.
